In 2002, China's production of low-quantity coated paper increased significantly, resulting in a coated paper output of 1.8 million tons, an increase of 38,146% over the previous year. This is the second highest growth rate for white paperboard. In order to meet the needs of consumption growth, light coated paper accounted for about 1 million tons of the 13 coated paper projects with total capacity of 2.03 million tons converted and newly built in 2005. According to statistical data, the demand for low-quantity coated paper is increasing at a rate of 3% to 5% a year in the world, especially in industrially developed countries.
